MECHANICAL ENGINEER / CAD


POSITION SUMMARY


This job entails AutoCad and or SolidWorks 80% of the time for the complete detailing of the machine / fixture assembly and components.  The candidate is both the engineer and draftsperson.  These essential duties must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.


  • Draft test fixture / adapter working drawings according to current drafting standards.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to work out detailed specifications, including calculation of stresses, deflections, torque requirements, speeds, feeds, cycle counts, and other typical machine design parameters.
  • Utilize pre-engineered tables, graphs and data to design testing fixtures.
  • Coordinate and work in conjunction with other workers designing, assembling and testing.
  • Make corrections, revisions, and changes to layouts as directed.
  • Orthographic Projections of all machinery designed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent CAD design Skills in AutoCad and SolidWorks.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of specification of tool steel and other materials including heat treatment, hardness and wear ability.


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE


  • BSME Associates Degree in CAD Design or a minimum of 5 years equivalent work experience in the areas described, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using most recent AutoCad and SolidWorks release.
  • Blueprint reading experience.
  • Familiarity with die design, motors and PLCs a plus.
  • Authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis.

CNC Machinist


Job Purpose:

Produces machined parts by programming, setting up, and operating a computer numerical control (CNC) machine; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; maintaining equipment and supplies.

Duties:

* Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).

* Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock; placing and expediting orders for stock; verifying receipt of stock, making sure stock is marked accurately.

* Programs mills by entering instructions, including zero and reference points; setting tool vertical registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math, geometry, and trigonometry; proving part programs.

* Sets-up mills by installing and adjusting three- and four-jaw chucks, tools, attachments, collets, bushings, cams, gears, stops, and stock pushers; indicating vices; tramming heads.

* Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.

* Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.

* Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.

* Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.

* Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

* Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.

* Documents actions by completing production and quality logs.

* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.

* Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
